Jesús Portilla
(Associate Professor)
Jesús Portilla is an associate professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering of the National Polytechnic School since 2014. His interest areas are related to gravitational waves in aqueous medium, particularly in oceanographic and atmospheric phenomena such as marine waves generated by wind, gravitational and atmospheric tides, exchange and interaction of moment, heat and mass at the ocean-atmosphere interface. Among the most common applications is the climate analysis and climate change. Currently the wave prediction system based on the WaveWatchIII model of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, USA) is operating for Ecuador. Among the ongoing research projects are studies of satellite data assimilation and in-situ for numerical models, analysis of the marine climate in several sites, including the Equatorial Pacific, the Red Sea, the North Sea, and the Sea.
